There are an estimated 11.1m working age people who are financially struggling or financially squeezed who don’t save regularly. Among these groups, many have no savings, some have moderate savings of between £1-£99, and some have savings between £100-£499. Many people in these groups are juggling the challenges of everyday life which leads them vulnerable to unexpected bills every year.
Enabling a culture of regular saving would be transformational for the UK’s financial wellbeing. ‘Nation of Savers’ (NoS) is one of five ambitious agendas for change set out in the Money and Pension Service (MaPS) UK Strategy for Financial Wellbeing 2020-2030. The goal of NoS is to increase the number of people saving by 2 million.
